About K+S Transport GmbH

The storage and handling of dry bulk goods has formed the core business of K+S Transport GmbH for eight decades. Our port operation at Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg, the "Kalikai", has a reputation for being particularly efficient and flexible among loading and shipping companies. With that as our point of departure, we have developed "along the supply chain".

A first step was the formation in 1990 of German Bulk Chartering (GBC) with its registered office in Hamburg. It brings together cargo and vessels - at the right place, at the right time, and at the right price.

In 2000, we took over United Bulk Transport See- und Hafen-Spedition GmbH Rostock (UBT) (UBT). As service providers to shipping companies, our clearing agents look after ships and crews while they remain in port. This goes hand in hand with forwarding arrangements - a further link in the chain.

However, port business alone was not enough for us: We also wanted to become active in the hinterland. At the end of 2002, we formed the trucking department within UBT, which now organizes transport by road across Europe.

A further milestone was the foundation of the K+S Transport GmbH division "Container Services" in 2001, enabling us to develop and expand Supply Chain Management (SCM) in a particular direction: Arranging and performing the whole range of transport services involved in shipping containers from production sites in the interior of the country to customers.

As a result of the K+S Group's rapidly growing business and the high demands of our associated companies, K+S Transport GmbH has developed into a competent SCM partner that is now also attractive to third parties.

Maintaining service standards at all times, displaying a capacity for innovation and attaining further growth - that is the part that we will continue to follow along the supply chain.
